Against the Tide
For the Writer
Neither are mornings nor any noon—
Sleepless nights are a writer's boon.
Why do you drift on a vessel of chaos?
O dear writer, get well soon.
You bear, even in your delicate dreams,
Deadly, frightening human screams.
Extend an olive branch to friends and foes,
Even amidst the torrent's streams.
Who can understand the ghosts you bear?
Your tired eyes reveal despair.
The burden of suffering mankind, oh—
A lantern in the midnight air.
You love navigating against the tide,
Whirling whirlpools fill you with pride.
Living beneath the hanging swords—
Enjoy O writer this crazy ride!
