The Eternal Yearning
In my hermitage of serene delight,
A tender hope has blossomed bright.
Soon I shall meet my cherished one,
My thirst sustained by dreams alone.
My destiny has kept us far apart,
And robbed my soul of peaceful heart.
The pangs of sorrow, grief, and gloom
Have played their part and sealed my doom.
Hear me, dear one, I have always felt—
How could I forget the love we held?
A flower of smiles, a shower of love,
Dear heart, why tease me from above?
O precious one, your selfless love
Has left its glory in my soul.
Your parting cast a veil of gloom,
And yearning became my constant home.
O listen, dear, your madness failed
To find the longing I concealed.
It stole my mirth, my joy, my play,
And set my tender heart ablaze.
