In an age of prejudice
and epidemics,
an age of wars
and divided loyalties,
they asked:
Why is water colourless?
Does it belong
to no one?
And yet—
it is water
that awakens
the leaves and flowers
into colour,
water that dresses
the whole of life
in its most beautiful garments.
I said:
Water is free.
But imprison it,
and it stagnates.
It darkens.
It rots.
Set it free—
and it never ceases
to run.
It washes away
the accumulated dirt
from the faces
of lean years,
and carries thorns
and withered weeds
toward the ocean
of oblivion.
It does not ask
the earth
who owns it.
It does not ask
the flower
what colour it bears.
It simply flows.
And so it goes...
Whenever you say to me,
"Neither black
nor white, "
I answer:
Have you forgotten?
Water has no colour.
Look closely.
Look into its nature,
and there—
within its very transparency—
you will discover
my true allegiance.
I belong
to what cannot be divided
by colour
you are no lightweight poet to be read at top speed and then forgotten. Nope. You speak to our minds as well as our hearts and souls and that is what a true poet should do.
Soran's poems are always powerful. His pen always weaves strong verses that give meaningful message to humanity. A great poem. To my favorites.
A poem of great depth, so meaningful and beautiful poetic lines that brilliantly express the importance of one of the four elements; water.
Your observation on water is superb. It is impartial and so colourless. Though colourless it drives colours and beauty into everything in nature. Water is beauty, water is health, water is food water is life
Let me quote from this magnificent poem, ''They said: Why is water colourless? Not belonging? but it drives the leaves and flowers colourfully even the whole of life With the most beautiful garments'
Why water is colourless? Because it signifies purity. It is attached to colour in a positive way.A meaningful poem, thanks for sharing.
