Memory Stations Poem by Soran M. H

Memory Stations

Rating: 5.0

While you wait—
restless,
impatient—
at the station of departure,
no fleeting glance
will remain
upon the faces
of travellers,
nor will it survive
as an inscription
in the memories
written upon the walls.
You will not draw
a heart and an arrow
upon the fogged glass,
nor will you lift your head
to watch the clouds
drifting overhead.
How many stars,
do you wonder,
are hiding behind them?
Beauty cannot be saved.
It adorns itself
for the briefest glance—
then vanishes.
So be it.
For with every departure,
with every fading away,
the glass heart
breaks once more,
and its wound
never learns
how to heal.
In the scarlet evening,
there is no time
left for contemplation.
It is time to leave
the ancient stations,
where everything
has grown tedious
through endless repetition—
even the cliffs
of extinction.
They fade so quickly
that they have not even
the time
to write their names.
Perhaps the train
will arrive without warning
at the last inhabited station,
coming from
the country of childhood,
travelling along
the forgotten railway
of memory.
Such is the nightingale:
the instant it slips
through a narrow opening,
it flies
toward the absolute
in a single flash,
leaving behind
the passion of friendship,
the cage
of homeland,
and the days
that have ceased
to move.

Awesome poem. It created a complete picture in mind about what we all go through at least once in our lifetime and how does it feel to cherish those moments.5***

A train station is the scenery of a wonderful poem where memories and thoughts come and go.

Our memories and thoughts are just temporary. Yet, the length of time they stay depends on how they made an impact in our life. Some are like dew drops that when the Sun comes, they quickly disappear. Some cling to our minds reviving now and then our great moments and deep sorrows

I wrote time-provoking poem but each reader has already his/her own thoughts after having read this poem. Most magnifcently rendered our life's journey through fantastic metaphors. My two thumbs up for you.
