Light Before Night Poem by Fred Rik Kesner

Light Before Night

'Light Before Night'

Light leans across the room,
quiet in its small way,
a breath moving through
the open air.

Shadows stay close.
The sky keeps its glassy edge,
dawn waiting
before the day begins.

Hands drift,
not reaching
— only keeping
what time allows.

Night folds in.
Stillness gathers.
A poem rises from
the moment's thin seam,

holding nothing
but the light
that will return
with the dawn.
