Gold In The Autumn Wind
In my youth and prime,
I sought gold:
in the breast of the forest,
down its deepest ravines,
on the ocean floor
among its strongest currents.
I sought it in the sky,
where vastness is guarded
by ruinous thunder,
and at the mouth of volcanoes
where intense fire
waited to engulf me.
Yet, I never found gold-
not even a speck.
Still, I tried,
and tried,
and I tried,
until my autumn came.
Then the elusive gold appeared.
I found it everywhere,
in the falling leaves.
They dance with me,
tease me in the gentle wind,
touching my face,
touching my hair,
touching my skin,
until they become
a part of me...
Until...
