`
we set up ourselves
in the eye of the public
thereby cuffing our hearts
restraining us from speaking
pristine truth
the charade
the convention
the outer shell:
the projected self
that everyone
can see & hear & feel
is all but an illusion
an aggregate amalgamation
of something real inside
a faint semblance
of the inner person
that struggles for expression
strives for representation
existing yet not living
underneath the weight of lies
whose lies? theirs....
lies are convenient
whose lies? ours....
lies are useful
lies are useful
to numb the pain
lies are convenient
they hide the stains
